T3CHNICIDE, It appears that we all have 2 message walls and 2 contribution pages. One for the Destiny wiki, and one for Destinypedia. I wanted to point this out in case this was an error, or if it was not.
Hey there T3CH. I'd like to get a chat going with you and the other admins considering a very interesting offer I have for you. Please let me know the best way to set this up. I promise you won't be disappointed. Contact me at email@example.com
Hello, T3CH. I am here questioning the adminship of TheLEGOUniverseWhite. He only has 50 edits and appears to have no adminship on any other wiki, except for the wiki he created which he only has 3 edits on. I have requested adminship here in the past, and I believe I am a very capable admin as I am very skilled with CSS and Js coding, and I am an admin on many wikis. I would like to know why LEGO is an administrator as I see many others on the wiki who has the ability to be an admin with their contributions and their status on other wikis, like me.
TheLEGOUniverseWhite's position as administrator is due to him adopting the wiki himself before I had arrived, and thus his admin status is out of my own hands. Thank you for showing an interest in becoming part of the community, however we are currently undertaking a merge with Destinypedia and thus will have a large admin group with little to no spaces afterwards. If you stick around and continue to contribute you will likely be placed on the shortlist for when an opening makes itself available.
I don't know if you're aware, but there is another Destiny wiki here on the wikia network. While it's always great to have some healthy competition, the fans of the game are now split between two communities.
Since your wiki is slightly smaller, what I'd like to propose is to merge this wiki with the other wiki - that way the community can focus on making one wiki phenomenal. I would be more than happy to do all the heavy lifting on this. The admins on the other wiki are open to the idea, including you guys retaining at least admin rights, and are interested in cross-sharing of knowledge and technique.
Microsoft has nothing to do with Destiny; they don't even have exclusive rights to Destiny like they had with Halo. This page is irrelavant, and I think it should be deleted. I do, however, agree with your preposition of making soft redirects to the Microsoft page at Wikipedia; this would be better than having an actually page on the topic.
Side Note: My opinion is the same on console articles as well; they're very irrelevant to the topic of this wiki, IMO.
Hey, I agree the Microsoft page is irrelevant for the time being. However I'm focused on improving our SEO for now, which appears to be highly correlated with page numbers. So for the time being I think we should keep them and just leave them to the side as an SEO boosting asset, before returning to the pages and replacing them for a soft redirect.
Yeah definitely, I don't want the wiki to become cluttered, however to compete with other destiny sites we need good SEO which only comes from having plenty of articles. At the same time however, I do believe in granulation.
I am deeply tired of the shooter genre (as in FPS and TPS), which I feel has become highly oversaturated. This game will be no different than all of the other games, IMO (Titanfall, COD: Ghost, Battlefield 4, Borderlands 2, Bioshock Infinite). All of these games are pretty much the same, but the gaming industry has brainwashed us into believing that a game with different graphics and 'slightly tweaked' shooting mechanics is unique.
Destiny looks more like a hybrid of games, rather than a game created out of innovation. And even if it was created out of innovation, Bungie obviously has taken key elements from other shooters.
One of those shooters is obviously Halo, which I feel Destiny looks too similar to.
Apparently, their won't be a third-person point-of-view, further making it less unique in my eyes. Now if there was a first-person view like any other shooter and a third-person view like Mass Effect or Gears of War, I would be editing like a nut-case!
The way I see it, the only possible way for the shooting genre to get some form of uniqueness back is if some developer makes an amazing FPS / TPS sci-fi game where you play as an advanced race of robots, not hindered by stuff such as morals, bigotry, racism, crime, poverty, pollution, etc., that have taken over Earth, but are now faced with the threat of losing their homeworld by an alien species, which should also look unique. Now that is what I call innovation. No one thinks about stuff like this, and wouldn't be expecting a robot FPS game with a plot and lore like this. Bungie should have made this, IMO.
Haha, I guess I can see where you are coming from, it does seem reminiscent of all the games just morphed into one. But I think that's where the appeal lies with me, they've taken the best of the best and turned it into a game they can call their own. Plus, I used to play MMOs a lot, so this is my way of getting back into it, but not spending hours of my day sat by a computer grinding and button mashing. At least this way I get decent aim practice haha!
Though I don't like how Destiny is looking, many people do; I'm just part of the very very small minority, and part of an even smaller minority when it comes to wanting a first-person or third-person shooter where you play as an advanced race of robots instead of the same boring-old humans. In your case though, I can see why you are very ecstatic about Destiny.
Anywho, how was E3? Did you get any inside information or anything like that?
E3 was amazing, a real eye opener for me. I went in there looking for info on Destiny and Halo, with little interest in anything else, and came out of it wanting almost every game there. As for inside information, I got to see the private demo of Destiny which was similar to the E3 even just with a few added extras. Most people waited in the line for 2 hours, but because I was with Wikia I got to jump the line. I also got to do a private interview with Harold Ryan, the president of Bungie. All very exciting stuff :P
You're one lucky man, T3CH! Glad to see you had fun. Oh, and from the demo, does it appear like Destiny will have a third-person view? I haven't seen any confirmation, but from the trailer, it looks like there may be one.
What games showcased at E3 do you want the most? I missed out in pieces of E3 and didn't even get to see Sony's press conference.
Well obviously Destiny, Halo 5, and Halo: Spartan Assault. But Watchdogs, Tom Clancy's The Division, South Park: The Stick of Truth, Call of Duty: Ghosts, and a couple of indie games are what E3 has left me craving for :P
You just reminded me of another thing I've been meaning to ask: What does the Division look like? Does it look better than Splinter Cell: Blacklist (Also, does Blacklist look any good? It looks like Ubisoft didn't make a lot of improvments to the game, like Kojima has with MGS (but Splinter Cell still seems to have the superior stealth gameplay).) and Watch_Dogs? What is the gameplay like, from your point of view (since you were there, lol)? I really want to know more about that game!
Division was great, the game play was really smooth and the way they've incorporated mobile players into the console world, and vise versa, is just amazing Blacklist was pretty cool, but I've not played the last one so I don't know what's changed. Watchdogs was just amazing, 'nuff said there. It's definitely one of the best IPs out this year.
I've got a bunch of official images from the publisher. I'm not sure precisely where you guys might want them - or if you want all of them - so I'm going to put them on my user page. If you guys want, you can go through them at your leisure and get rid of those that don't interest you. As they are official images, they do contain the "Bungie" wordmark.
Hey T3CH Im new on this wiki and I was wondering if you could give me permission to redo the Videos section on the Destiny page as I noticed that you're missing some and the ones you have are not from the official Destiny youtube channel.
Hey there, I'm actually at E3 at the moment, so if you leave a list of the ones we are missing I'll be happy to update it. As for the videos, the ones we have are copyright permitted so we can use them at our leisure.
Count here (now known as Starkilllar lol) missing The Law Of The Jungle and Destiny E3 Gamplay Trailer, I know It's not mandatory but I still insist on the official list of vids and images on this wiki, It just feels right, if you're too busy at E3 I'll be more than glad to update it myself as I really want to contribute to make this wiki as accurate as possible. Let me know what you think.
